Welcome to the site of the Yawkey Baseball League of Greater Boston. It is a pleasure to have you visit the home of the Boston area's premiere amateur baseball program.
The 2012 season marks the 22nd year that we have been named in honor of Thomas Austin Yawkey. Our league is comprised of players and teams from multi-ethnic backgrounds. Our objective to always be inclusive. Our organization strives to keep young men in sports and out of the criminal justice system.
The YBL is the largest amateur baseball program for young men in Boston. We play a 33 game schedule as it was meant to be played ... with wood bats!
Our league has its roots in Boston back to the 1950's. We were also-known-as the: City League, the Twilight League and until 1990 the Boston Jr Park League. 1990 was a coming of age for our league. We were named in honor of Baseball Hall of Famer Tom Yawkey. Our affiliation with the Yawkey Family have brought us many benefits over the years. The Yawkey Foundation - Boston Trust is a major financial contributor. We are very proud to: "Continue the Baseball Tradition established by Tom & Jean Yawkey in Boston!"
Come out and see some great baseball at a field near you!
Sincerely,
Dave McKay League President
