The Yawkey Baseball League is proud to announce John Griffith of the Brighton Black Sox as the winner of the 2025 Barbara Medeiros Manager of the Year Award.
The 2025 season saw the two-time defending champion Black Sox undergo significant roster turnover, with ten new players joining the team. Under Griffith’s leadership, the group quickly found its rhythm — winning its first eleven games and finishing with a 22–8 record to earn the top seed in the playoffs.
In the playoffs, the Black Sox would sweep both series to capture their third straight title.
Winning this award brings Griffith’s YBL journey full circle. He first entered the Yawkey League in 1994 as a player for Barbara Medeiros, for whom the award is named. After several seasons with Hyde Park and West Roxbury, Griffith joined the Brighton Black Sox in 2001 and assumed control of the franchise in 2008.
This is Griffith’s third time winning the award.
Congratulations John on a well deserved honor.
