The Yawkey League is proud to announce Bobby Higgins of the Brighton Black Sox as the 2025 recipient of the Johnny Pesky Rookie of the Year Award.
Higgins joined the Black Sox after previously playing with Ronnie’s Recs in the CNEBA, reuniting on the Black Sox with several of his former Framingham State teammates. From Opening Day, he proved to be a cornerstone of the lineup, appearing in 28 of 30 regular-season games and setting the tone at the top of the order for a club that finished as the league’s top seed.
Offensively Higgins collected 31 hits finishing the year with a .413 batting average. His 13 doubles and 35 runs scored both led the league, while his 24 walks tied for the league high. In addition to winning the Rookie Of The Year honors, Higgins also claimed the Silver Slugger Award at second base.
Congratulations Bobby on a great season.
