The Yawkey League is pleased to announce that the City of Boston Credit Union has agreed to be a league sponsor for the 2018 season. The City of Boston Credit Union has also agreed to sponsor the McKay Club for the 2018 season.

Dave McKay was recently interviewed by the Revere Journal where he spoke to strength of the YBL and the parody of its teams:
While there are few outliers, McKay said the league’s parity has been good. “Any team can beat any (other) team on a given night,” he said.
An assembly of collegiate players, former high school stars, post-collegiate players and local amateurs, McKay said the Yawkey League stands as one of the top amateur leagues in Eastern Massachusetts. The Yawkey League All Stars were the winners of last season’s Eastern Massachusetts Amateur Baseball Classic.
“Our talent is on par or better than many of the other leagues in the area,” he said.

A 50 Year Baseball Journey
The 2018 season marks YBL President Dave McKay’s 50th year of involvement with amateur baseball. Dave’s journey began with the Mill Stream Baseball League in Dorchester and continues today with the Yawkey Baseball League.

Two YBL Alumni Drafted by Seattle Mariners
This years 2018 MLB draft saw two former YBL players get drafted as both Charlie McConnell and Noah Zavolas were both selected by Seattle Mariners.
Charlie McConnell was drafted in the 12th round out of Northeastern. The 6’2″ OF from Reading, MA played the 2015 season for the Somerville Alibrandis.
Noah Zavolas from Harvard was also selected by Seattle in the 18th round. Zavolas a 6’1″ pitcher from Acton, MA played parts of the 2016 and 2017 seasons for the Charlewtown Townies.
Congrats and best of luck both Charlie and Noah.
