Hitter of the Week
Justin Johnson, McKay Club
Justin Johnson is a shortstop and a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year as he is helping the McKay Club Beacons to a strong second place in the Ted Williams Division.
In just 13 games, the wunderkind is second on the team in batting at .478 as well as the league, to teammate and superstar Matt Costanza. He’s first in at bats with 46, second in hits with 22, second in runs with 15, the key stat is that in those 46 at bats, hes only struck out a miniscule 3 times. His OBP is .500 and has stolen 6 bases in 7 tries. He already has 5 2 hit games, 2 3 hit games, and a 4-4 against Savin Hill. Watch for more good things, and maybe some jewelry at the end of the season for Justin.
Pitcher of the Week
Trevor Derochea, Al Thomas
Trevor Derochea has had a terrific season for the Al Thomas A’s. Currently he’s in a few league leaders in some categories. He’s a guy that can start or come out of the pen. Thus far, Trevor is 2-0, with a save, and a sparkling 0 57 era. He can certainly strike you out with aplomb – 22 Ks in only 12 innings. He’s only allowed one earned run and six hits on the season. Trevors’ strike out to walk ratio is a ridiculous 22-3. His WHIP is .060.
These are Cy Young numbers for sure, were it not for some Brighton Brave pitchers, but who knows?
