Charlestown and Stoneham advance

The Charlestown Townies and Stoneham Sabers both swept their first
round matchups to advance to the semi-finals.

Charlestown shutout out the Black Sox for the series winning 9-0 in game one and 1-0 in game two. Strong starts by Billy Sullivan and Ryan Mcdonald set the tone for the series. Mike Bartlett had three hits in the series, while Brandon Grover, Kyle Hallaoran and Austin Farry each had two hits. The Townies advance to face East Boston in a best of five series that starts on Saturday August 17.

Stoneham would get strong pitching performances by Nick Powers and Luis Gil in beating the Mckay Club 6-1 and 10-1. Curtis Tirone and Nick Powers both collected four hits to pace the Saber offense. The Sabers advance to take on the Revere Rockies in a best of five series beginning Saturday August 17.
