YBL announces Alumni Game

Yawkey League Alumni Game

On Friday May 13, the Yawkey League will play its first ever alumni game. The game will celebrate the history of the league, while helping to kick off the 2022 season.

The game features the Tarpey Legends, managed by Brian Carey (Cambridge Bucs), playing the Stewart Legends, managed by Mike Powers (Somerville Alibrandis). Rosters to be announced at a later date will include players from Brighton Twins, Avi Nelson Club, South Boston Saints, McKay Club and Brighton Braves.

The game will be played on Friday May 13 at Rogers Park in Brighton. First pitch is schedule for 7:00PM preceeded by a short pregame ceremony.

YBL Announces New Board Member

Stephen Robb of the Brighton Braves

At its latest league meeting, Stephen Robb was unanimously elected to the Board of Directors as a member at large.

After taking some time away from baseball, Stephen Robb joined the Brighton Braves in 2012. Robb has since become a loyal supporter of both the Braves and the Yawkey League. Robb has become a big part of the amateur community as a whole participating in several 100 Inning Games to help raise money and awareness for the fight against ALS.

Wrapping up 2021

As we approach our final league meeting of the year, the Yawkey Baseball League would like to thank the Yawkey Foundation for its continued amazing support, guidance and friendship. The generous grant from the Yawkey Foundation has allowed the YBL to carry out its mission of providing competitive baseball for young men in a structured, safe environment.

Their administration has worked with our Board to explore opportunities to advance the makeup of the league in an effort to grow and develop in today’s climate with genuine sensitivity to issues of race, diversity and economics.

The Board applauds the Yawkey Foundation for its incredible commitment to community issues and needs, as well as the continued financial support that allows the YBL to carry out its mission for young men in Boston and surrounding areas.

2021 Awards Cookout

The Yawkey League will be hosting a cookout at the Milton American Legion Post at Heritage Hall (map) on Saturday 10/23 starting at 3pm.

Admission is free. Food for the cookout will be provided free of charge. There will be a cash bar.

2021 Steve George Executive Of The Year

Joe O’Hara of the Al Thomas Athletics

The Yawkey Baseball League is proud to announce the winner of the 2021 Steve George Executive Of The Year to Joe O’Hara of the Al Thomas Athletics.

On the field, Joe’s leadership has rebuilt the Al Thomas organization that ultimately winning the 2021 Yawkey League Championship.

Off the field, Joe continues to be a driving force behind the success of the league serving as both Vice President and Treasure.

Congratulations Joe on a well deserved honor.
