Yawkey Baseball League

This years 2018 MLB draft saw two former YBL players get drafted as both Charlie McConnell and Noah Zavolas were both selected by Seattle Mariners.

Charlie McConnell was drafted in the 12th round out of Northeastern. The 6’2″ OF from Reading, MA played the 2015 season for the Somerville Alibrandis.

Noah Zavolas from Harvard was also selected by Seattle in the 18th round. Zavolas a 6’1″ pitcher from Acton, MA played parts of the 2016 and 2017 seasons for the Charlewtown Townies.

Congrats and best of luck both Charlie and Noah.

A memorial service and reception in honor of Harvey Soolman will be held on Monday June 18, 2018 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The memorial and reception will take place at the State Street Pavilion Club at Fenway Park. Please use the entrance on 20 Jersey Street (formerly Yawkey Way).

Courtesy Parking will be available after 5pm in the lot at 73 Brookline Ave.  The lot is across the street from Fenway Park next to Boston Beerworks.

For the first week of the 2018 Yawkey Season, Stu has selected Matt Costanza of the McKay Club Beacons as his hitter of the week and Dan Shaw of the South Boston Saints as his pitcher of the week.

The Yawkey League Family is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of YBL Hall of Famer – Harvey Soolman. Harvey was a player and manager in our Junior Park and Yawkey years. He touched many lives with his love of the game.

Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Harvey’s Family. We all pray for the repose of his soul.

The 2018 YBL season will open this weekend.
Stoneham and Revere will be featured in our week end of baseball.

Saturday – May 12 at 5PM

Location – Recreation Park in Stoneham

Sunday – May 13 at 5PM
Stoneham vs Revere
Location – Revere High School in Revere

All of our remaining teams will open their seasons beginning Monday at various venues.
